Chapter 2 - Free Falling and Projectile

Learning Outcomes:

After this chapter, you should be able to :
1. derive the equations which represent uniformly accelerated motion in a straight line from the definitions of velocity and acceleration.

2. use equations which represent uniformly accelerated motion in a straight line, including falling in a uniform gravitational field.

3. describe qualitatively the motion of bodies falling in a uniform gravitational field.

4. describe and explain motion due to uniform velocity in one direction and a uniform acceleration in a perpendicular direction.

Chapter 1 - Kinematics

Learning Outcomes:

After this chapter, you should be able to :

1. define displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration.

2. use graphical methods to represent distance travelled, displacement, speed, velocity and acceleration.

3. find displacement from the area under a velocity-time graph.

4. use the slope of a dispalcement-time graph to find velocity.

5. use the slope of a velocity-time graph to find acceleration.

6. solve problems using equations which represent uniformly accelerated motion in a straight line.

7. describe and explain motion due to uniform velocity in one direction and a uniform acceleration in a perpendicular direction.

Welcome to Engineering Science 1

Dear students,

Welcome to the world of physics!! We are getting to start our journey to Engineering Science 1 soon. Hope that you will enjoy your journey at the end of the semester.

With the aid of blogger, you can download the posted articles or videos in addition to my weekly lectures. Please do take time to read the articles and watch the videos when you are online. Besides, please post your questions after every lecture. Your question will help others too. These will definitely help you have better understanding on ES1.

At this moment, I request you to change your mindset. Do not think that learning physics is very boring. From now onwards, you will find that physics is very interesting . Are you ready with me??
